Why Tumblr?

Honestly, I don’t need the pressure. Yes, having a blog proper is pressure. There’s always that itching feeling at the back of your head that you’ll be disappointing somebody if you don’t write out a long, interesting post on a semi-daily basis. The pressure is even worse if you’re paying for your blogging service (which I still am, for some stupid reason).

Not that Tumblr cannot be used as a blogging tool in it’s own right. And not that I won’t be writing long essays now and then. I will, hopefully. It’s just that I’m more likely to do so if I don’t feel like I have to. Also, I don’t really need to blog to exercise my writing skills - Goddess knows I have to do enough essay writing for school, plus I keep two diaries (wha?).

I like the scrapbookyness of Tumblr. I like how the templates format stuff so that it’s such a huge deal. Like, look, here’s a link, TA-DAA! Big, bold text and all. Or quotes. And pictures. Etc. You just couldn’t get away with posting just ONE THING on a normal blog.

And… I’ve been blogging a long time. A hell of a long time. Long, LONG, before “blog” was even a word. 11 years now. Yikes. Ergo, the internet has always been a part of me, and I don’t mind that.

So, Tumblr rocks. I just thought I might share that. The randomness and the boldness of it all. In the meantime, I will save all my TypePad posts, cancel my account and put my money toward something a lot more worthwhile: a premium Flickr account. Because everyone’s doing it.

Coming up next: A Haloscan tutorial. Indeed, Disqus, great as it is, does not have a corner on the Tumblr market (am I even phrasing that correctly?). When I feel like it. So, sometime after I finish this completely overdue assignment. It’s called “Experiencing Critical Thinking: Using the Nursing Process and the Neuman Systems Model to Create a Personalized Care Plan”, in case you’re interested.
